The Price of War
When the pagentry and splendour of the troops is done
And the city streets still echo to the faintly ringing cheers

Will you send your loving thoughts to the lass of 21 years
As she sits there with her children and heart that is blind with tears

Simply because she knows the price of war
Some subjects are really important in the context of what we as the Legion members stand for.

In this case I refer to the Military Covenant which our Prime Minister  Mr David Cameron promised to act upon whilst standing on the deck of H M S Ark Royal which he has seen fit to the scrap heap.
We must not allow him to send his promise to Our Armed Forces to the scrap heap as well.
British Legion branches up and down the country must stand together united on this matter, and ensure as best as we can that the Covenant is enscribed in law- this is really long overdue

The Ladies of the WRAC
By Ian Kay-(Danny)
an old Army buddy of mine

They sang of khaki bloomers in ‘53
and baggy skirts that covered every shapely knee
Uplifts that just would’ nt and corsets that were slack
But ye’’ve got tae raise yer bonnet tae   The Ladies of the WRAC

They thrust the shrinking violets
Amongst the shanghai lils
gave them boots and gaiters
To batter out their drills
Although I’ve heard it rumoured they’ve  falsies in their packs
Ye got to raise yer bonnets tae
The Ladies of the WRAC

When they step out in Number ones
I say they look a treat
They turn the head of every Jock
The length of Princess Street
Aye!!! It fairly warms my whiskers tae see them front and back
I’ve to raise ma bonnet tae
              The Ladies of the WRAC
